Wisdom throws a Party!

Proverbs 9:1-6

Wisdom has built herself a house;

she has carved her seven pillars.

2 She has prepared her food, spiced her wine,

and she has set her table.

3 She has sent out her young girls [with invitations];

she calls from the heights of the city,

4 “Whoever is unsure of himself, turn in here!”

To someone weak-willed she says,

5 “Come and eat my food!

Drink the wine I have mixed!

6 Don’t stay unsure of yourself, but live!

Walk in the way of understanding!”

Wisdom:

  • Built a house

  • Carved seven (number of perfection) pillars

  • Prepared food

  • Spiced wine

  • Set her table.

Wisdom knows how to throw a party!

Many might say that it is odd she would encourage someone to come drink wine in order to learn the way of understanding. If someone is weak-willed it seems odd that wisdom would encourage drinking wine.

My thoughts behind this is, with wisdom and understanding at the core of the party, stupidity and the desire to be great go out the window. Wine, drunk in appropriate measures is okay. Wisdom is teaching the balance and knowledge for LIFE.

Wisdom is once again found in the heights of the city. She has gone to the top and calls out. Again, the symbolism I see is that she isn't easy to find or get too, but those willing to make the trek UP will be rewarded! The book, "Hinds Feet on High Places" comes to mind.

Don’t stay unsure of yourself, but live!

Walk in the way of understanding!”

This verse is the KEY to wisdom. You have no need to be unsure of yourself. It doesn't mean we won't have moments of uncertainty and fear, but we walk THROUGH them to gain LIFE and understanding.

Today friends, be thankful that HE WANTS you to gain wisdom. Don't live in fear or uncertainty, but come to HIS table and ask for wisdom. He WILL give generously to ALL who ask.

Love and blessings,

Rose
