There is FREEDOM!

I have been “off” for the last four days. Our family went to Bucharest, Romania. It is interesting that we have spent quite a bit of time in countries that I, as a young girl into high school, never dreamed I would visit because they were Communist. The Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, and now Romania were all “behind the Iron Curtain” and unavailable to outsiders. Now these places can be visited freely!

As we have visited these countries, usually we are in the capital. Sometimes there are protests that happen as we are there. It started again yesterday as we walked through Bucharest for the last time. It made me stop and think about what happens to people when freedom comes. Often they want more, and more, and more… Usually it means that countries begin to walk away from what is best for them because the government caves to what the people want.

It has made me realize that we do the same thing in our spiritual lives. We find our freedom in Christ and then we think that grace is sufficient and God will forgive me, so we take advantage of His grace. We say that in our “humanity” we do these things and being to excuse sin.

All of these thoughts led me to look for a verse about freedom.

2 Corinthians 3:17

Now, “Adonai” in this text means the Spirit. And where the Spirit of Adonai is, there is freedom. (CJB)

When we have the Spirit there is definite FREEDOM! I know that when I focus on the Spirit I have less worries and stress. We really need to remember that His Spirit is the key for us to move forward.

His FREEDOM does NOT give us the liberty to walk in sin. In fact, His freedom should cause us to want to LIVE for Him. Because we are FREE we should DESIRE to do what HE wants us to do.

These people who are finding their freedom in countries where there was no freedom for awhile are stretching their limits. I’m all for speaking your mind and trying to help move situations forward, but sometimes it is taken too far and too strong.

Listening to the Spirit is always the best. When we lose that mindset, we lose our freedom.

LISTEN to Adonai. LISTEN to the SPIRIT. Then you WILL find FREEDOM!

Love and blessings,

Rose
