The foolish woman...
Proverbs 9:13-18
The foolish woman is coarse;
she doesn’t think, and she doesn’t know a thing.
14 She sits at the door of her house
or on a seat at the heights of the city,
15 calling to those who pass by,
to those going straight along their ways,
16 “Whoever is unsure of himself, turn in here!”
To someone weak-willed she says,
17 “Stolen water is sweet;
food eaten in secret is pleasant.”
18 But he doesn’t realize
that the dead are there,
and that those who accept her invitation
are in the depths of Sh’ol.
As I read these verses this morning I almost became depressed. My heart is heavy that it is so easy for the "foolish woman" to convince someone to follow her. It should be heart wrenching for all of us that sin looks so easy and good.
I hate to say it, but with all the bickering that happens within the "walls of the church," it is no wonder that many find it an unsafe place to be. Yes, I understand we are human and have to allow for our flesh to at times "get in the way." However, too often that flesh stays there and continues to get in the way... And no one wants to recognize it.
Division is so challenging. Everyone believes they are right. To a certain degree those who believe in Jesus and His Words have the "right" to make that claim. It just becomes too much when we begin to make issues that are not a part of salvation, required for salvation. It becomes too much when pride gets in the way and others are made to feel less than.
Today, stop and ask yourself who are you walking with? Are you allowing the foolish woman to draw you in? Is pride getting in the way? Do you believe you are "right" and have the "right to be right?" If so, maybe you have allowed the foolish woman to move in.
Are you willing to stand alone, no matter how painful it might be, and spend time with the ONE Who should be the lover of your soul??? Are you willing to love on those He says to love? Are you willing to follow a path that seems crazy and different? Following His covenant means that.
I am so grateful that no matter where I am, HE is with me and can bring strength when I am weak. I NEED Him so I don't fall prey to the foolish woman sitting beside the road.
My thoughts seem scattered today. I hope that you understand that HIS way won't always look like you expect. But when you find that place of peace, you have to learn how to share it with others and not force it on them. Jesus SHOWED others the love of the Father. When that happens, others will be drawn to HIM, not you. The foolish woman of flesh will turn it into you, BUT It is NEVER you... it must ALWAYS be Him.
Love and blessings,
