Search for the Treasure
Matthew 13:44-50
44 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. A man found it, hid it again, then in great joy went and sold everything he owned, and bought that field.
45 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for fine pearls. 46 On finding one very valuable pearl he went away, sold everything he owned and bought it.
47 “Once more, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a net thrown into the lake, that caught all kinds of fish. 48 When it was full, the fishermen brought the net up onto the shore, sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad fish away. 49 So it will be at the close of the age — the angels will go forth and separate the evil people from among the righteous 50 and throw them into the fiery furnace, where they will wail and grind their teeth.
The common words in these verses are: "The Kingdom of Heaven is like...
In the first couple verses Jesus explains that it is like a treasure. He says that once we find a treasure we should desire to sell other things (or everything) and buy the treasure. The teaching Jesus wants us to hear is:
Give it ALL for the Kingdom of Heaven.
The question we should ask ourselves then is, "are we willing to sell it all for the Kingdom of Heaven?" Are we going to separate ourselves from the world around us and give it all for His treasures?
The next questions is, "are we willing to go SEARCH for the hidden treasures?" One man searched the field. Another looked for the precious pearl. What are we doing to search for the hidden treasures in His Kingdom?
To close out this section I did decide to add verses 47-50. A bit different theme, but still Jesus said to start, "Once more, the Kingdom of Heaven is like..." This time He speaks again of the separation that is going to happen. The bad and the good will be collected together, but then the angels will separate the evil from the good and throw the evil out.
The challenge for us today, in this crazy world we live in, is knowing how to separate the Truth from lies. Who is giving us the right information? I don't know about you, but I find it quite difficult some days to know who is speaking the Truth?
This is why we must SEARCH for His Treasures. Secrets in His Word to bring us His wisdom. TIME with Him each day to just LISTEN to what Holy Spirit says. Then we can KNOW the Truth that will set us free. When we open His Word it is like opening a treasure chest - you never know what you will find.
Go Ask, Seek and Find today...

Rose
