Psalm 23
I have been processing a lot this week and have two things I feel led to write about. This morning I can't put the thoughts together.
One is on bullying. Unfortunately it happens, and it happens in Christian settings as much as it does in the "world." Are we really that different?
The other topic is on Self Care. A buzz word the past several years. And I get it... I have done it myself. I'm struggling with, "Have we taken it too far?"
As I was processing all that this morning, a new song came on my playlist called "Still Waters" by Leanna Crawford. It is based on Psalm 23. Here are two translations of this favorite passage.
A psalm of David:
Adonai is my shepherd; I lack nothing.
He has me lie down in grassy pastures,
He leads me by quiet water,
He restores my inner person.
He guides me in right paths
for the sake of his own name.
Even if I pass through death-dark ravines,
I will fear no disaster; for you are with me;
You prepare a table for me,
even as my enemies watch;
you anoint my head with oil
from an overflowing cup.
Goodness and grace will pursue me
every day of my life;
and I will live in the house of Adonai
for years and years to come.

The Lord is my best friend and shepherd.
I always have more than enough.
He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love.
His tracks take me to an oasis of peace, the quiet brook of bliss.
That's where he restores and revives my life.
He opens before me pathways to God's pleasure
and leads me along in his footsteps of righteousness
so that I can bring honor to his name.
Lord, even when your path takes me through
the valley of deepest darkness,
fear will never conquer me, for you already have!
You remain close to me and lead me through it all the way.

May both of these versions bring you hope and peace today. In this world of crazy busyness, "friends" who turn their back and trying to take care of yourself - remind yourself that HE is with you and HE is taking care of you. Let Him be your Shepherd and Guide.
Love and blessings,
Rose
