Let Him take the wheel...

Matthew 16:24-28

24 Then Yeshua told his talmidim (disciples/students), “If anyone wants to come after me, let him say ‘No’ to himself, take up his execution-stake, and keep following me. 25 For whoever wants to save his own life will destroy it, but whoever destroys his life for my sake will find it. 26 What good will it do someone if he gains the whole world but forfeits his life? Or, what can a person give in exchange for his life? 27 For the Son of Man will come in his Father’s glory, with his angels; and then he will repay everyone according to his conduct. 28 Yes! I tell you that there are some people standing here who will not experience death until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom!”

Follow Him... what does it really take? The Son of Man will come in His Father's glory... How will that play out? We really receive no tangible answers in these Words that Jesus spoke. We do, however, know that HE is in control and wants to turn our world - well, basically upside down.

It's so difficult to read the Words here because we must "lose ourselves" in order to find ourselves. We must "destroy" what WE desire and do what HE desires. There is no room for selfishness in the Kingdom of God.

And yet, we are told to "love ourselves." We are told to make sure that we take care of ourselves. How does all of that happen? The balance of life is often difficult. Finding a way to "give your life up" and yet "love yourself" is not easy. Everyone has their own understanding of how this is supposed to be too.

The world tells us we must "conquer it all." Jesus says here, "What good will it do someone if he gains the whole world but forfeits his life?" So, is gaining the world really a good thing? If life is lost in the process...

So many questions! What is LIFE? It might be staying in bed and reading for one person. It might be out meeting everyone on the street for another.

What God asks us to do is just be ready and willing to do whatever HE asks us to do. To put our desires aside and TRUST that He knows what He is doing. If He tells us to get out of bed, even when we don't want too, we should. When He tells us to stay home, even when we don't want too, we should.

Today, choose to be in tune with Holy Spirit. Set aside your desires and wants and let HIM "take the wheel." Ask HIM for the grace and mercy you need to walk out all He wants you to do. And, find peace in Him.

Love and blessings,

Rose
