Keep persisting in PRAYER...
Our family finished reading the book of Colossians today. Lots of power packed verses that Paul wrote to the community of faith in Colossae. This little book has some great WORDS from God that we should be using in our daily walk with Him.
Colossians 4:2
Keep persisting in prayer, staying alert in it and being thankful. (CJB)
PERSIST. This is a strong word that we should not take lightly. PERSIST means to KEEP GOING. KEEP TRYING. DON’T GIVE UP!
STAY ALERT. The next command given… Sometimes we just pray to pray. Do we really think about what we are saying? Or are we just, “going through the motions?”
BE THANKFUL! How many times have we heard this? If it is said so many times in the Word of God there must be SOMETHING we take away from the command. Do we APPLY it?
If we want to think about how these “commands” become applied to our lives, we can read a little further down and look at verses 5 and 6:
Behave wisely toward outsiders, making full use of every opportunity — let your conversation always be gracious and interesting, so that you will know how to respond to any particular individual. (CJB)
If we are persisting in prayer, staying alert and being thankful, than we will have NO problem behaving wisely. We WILL make use of EVERY opportunity. We will ALWAYS be gracious and interesting. It will be natural to RESPOND appropriately to any individual.
Father, HELP us apply these instructions to our lives. Help us to LIVE with YOUR Words at the forefront of our minds. THANK YOU for giving us the STRENGTH to walk out the tasks YOU place in front of us.
Love and blessings,
Rose
