Give ear to my words, Adonai...
The book of Psalms always brings a meditative spirit to me. There are so many words that David wrote that bring hope and comfort.
Psalm 5:1-3
Give ear to my words, Adonai,
consider my inmost thoughts.
Listen to my cry for help,
my king and my God, for I pray to you.
Adonai, in the morning you will hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my needs before you
and wait expectantly. (CJB)
This is a Psalm that was sung because it says it was done, “on wind instrument.” One can imagine that flute that David was playing. It was probably a way for him to wind down at the end of the day.
David was crying out to God. He asked Adonai to “hear his voice.” He desired God to LISTEN to Him. He said let me “lay my needs before you.” David had NEEDS. David knew he needed God.
He asked God to LISTEN to him. He said, “I pray to you.” He asked God to, “consider my inmost thoughts.”
How often do we take our “inmost thoughts” to God? Maybe we are afraid of what He would think. Maybe we are uncertain that we can trust Him to really answer or understand. There are all kinds of thoughts that run through our heads. Do we really just “lay our needs before Him?”
Stop and cry out to Him today. Really pray to Him and ask Him to, “hear your voice.” Believe that HE is listening and then…
WAIT EXPECTANTLY.
Love and blessings,
Rose
