Be STILL before Adonai...
Shabbat. Another Friday has arrived! Another verse about resting and…
Psalm 37:7
Be still before Adonai;
wait patiently till he comes.
Don’t be upset by those whose way
succeeds because of their wicked plans. (CJB)
BE STILL!
Not only is Shabbat about resting and stopping, it means to be still.
And then my favorite words, “wait patiently.” Yes, I am being a bit sarcastic. Patience is not a strong suit for me.
This verse, however, brings new insight to those words. It is actually a relief to read the last two lines. Look at them carefully with me.
“Don’t be upset.” That is important. What are we supposed to “be still about and not get upset?”
There are those around us who seem to succeed with wicked plans. At times it will be easy to become upset by watching those around us move forward while we seem stuck.
The words in this verse should bring us HOPE that when we are STILL and LISTENING to Adonai, we will succeed. Being patient to WAIT for HIS plan is always best.
So, as we enter another Shabbat, BE STILL. WAIT PATIENTLY. Let HIM take the lead and be in charge.
Shabbat Shalom,
Rose
