Be a Tree
Proverbs 11:28-31
He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like sprouting leaves.
29 Those who trouble their families inherit the wind, and the fool becomes slave to the wise.
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who is wise wins souls. 31 If the righteous are paid what they deserve here on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
Verse 28 starts this out with a clear warning:
He who trusts in his riches will fall...
Things and money will fade away. It is okay to have them. It is okay to be blessed. We cannot TRUST in them. If we trust in the fact that money will buy us what we want, we miss TRUSTING Him.
The picture of a tree of life in verse 30 is beautiful. There is also a picture of something similar in verse 29 when it says, "the righteous will flourish like sprouting leaves." Trees are amazing. The way they grow tall and strong. Roots. going deep.
This is the example we need to take with us today. Be a strong tree. Wave your branches in praise to Him. Let your green leaves be a shady blessing to those you meet. Bear fruit and multiply. There might be seasons of death as leaves fall, but you will grow back. Trust HIM to make you strong.
Love and blessings,
