Ask, Seek, Knock

Matthew 7:6-11

“Don’t give to dogs what is holy, and don’t throw your pearls to the pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, then turn and attack you.

“Keep asking, and it will be given to you; keep seeking, and you will find; keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps asking receives; he who keeps seeking finds; and to him who keeps knocking, the door will be opened. Is there anyone here who, if his son asks him for a loaf of bread, will give him a stone? 10 or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 So if you, even though you are bad, know how to give your children gifts that are good, how much more will your Father in heaven keep giving good things to those who keep asking him!

There is a whole study that could be accomplished with verse 6. The meaning of dogs, what is holy, why did Jesus mention a pig? That verse could turn into a full blown teaching all by itself.

The simple meaning Jesus wanted the people to hear? "Be wise in your actions and think through what you are doing." Who are you going to hang with? Who are you seeking your advice from? Are they people who want to follow God? Or, have you chosen to look to other options and thought processes.

By adhering to this teaching, when we ASK, SEEK, and KNOCK, we will be looking to the Father for His answers. We will be in community with those who desire to follow Him. Then, as a collective group, we will be taking care of those around us with His desires in our heart.

Take these simple words to heart today. Look to the Father for your needs. Look to the Father for the peace you desire. He is the One Who will keep "giving good things to those who keep asking Him!"

Love and blessings,

Rose
