A House Divided
Matthew 12:22-29
22 Then some people brought him a man controlled by demons who was blind and mute; and Yeshua healed him, so that he could both speak and see. 23 The crowds were astounded and asked, “This couldn’t be the Son of David, could it?” 24 But when the P’rushim (Pharisees) heard of it, they said, “It is only by Ba‘al-Zibbul” — the ruler of the demons — “that this man drives out demons.”
25 However, knowing what they were thinking, Yeshua said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not survive. 26 If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself; so how can his kingdom survive? 27 Besides, if I drive out demons by Ba‘al-Zibbul, by whom do your people drive them out? So, they will be your judges! 28 But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God has come upon you!
29 “Or again, how can someone break into a strong man’s house and make off with his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? After that he can ransack his house.
A house divided... This is what was happening within the Jewish community of the day. The religious people were trying to make Jesus look like He was under the order of the devil. Religion was creeping in and dividing the people of God. Jesus didn't cause the division, the people following religion did.
A house divided cannot stand. It will not survive. It happens over and over. I believe we are watching this now in countries across the world. Division is everywhere. It is time for those who believe in the Word of God to be faithful and walk out what He desires - which is helping people become ALL He wants them to be.
Jesus had some great answers for the Pharisees. "If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself." And, he turned it on them, "Besides, if I drive out demons by the devil, by who do your people drive them out?"
Don't let the enemy try to discourage you. There will be people who question you along the way, but don't let them try to pull you down. God lives inside of you and He is in charge. If you let someone in to "tie you up" than they can ransack you.
Once again, we just need to be LISTENING to what Holy Spirit wants from us. Speak what He wants us to speak. Help make those around us "whole." When we know that He on our side, than no one is against us.
