Wait in silence for GOD alone...

We have come to another Shabbat. Shabbat is for rest! As I looked for verses about rest, this one popped up, but in the Complete Jewish Bible it does not use the word rest.

Psalm 62:6-7

My soul, wait in silence for God alone,

because my hope comes from him.

He alone is my rock and salvation,

my stronghold; I won’t be moved. (CJB)

“Wait in silence” means to REST. Let GOD handle things! Our HOPE is in HIM.

As you prepare to enter a Shabbat, let HIM take over. Let your soul find REST with HIM.

He truly is your ROCK and SALVATION.

HE will HOLD you when the times get tough. Just TRUST HIM.

YOU don’t have to move. HE will be there.

Today I had an interesting situation and I literally had to PRAY this prayer OUT LOUD to bring silence to my soul. I had to CLAIM it OUT LOUD to believe and have HOPE.

I encourage you to read these verses in other translations too. In fact… here are a couple of them:

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence,

for my hope is from him.

He only is my rock and my salvation,

my fortress; I shall not be shaken. (ESV)

For he alone is my safe place.

His wrap-around presence always protects me

as my champion defender.

There’s no risk of failure with God!

So why would I let worry paralyze me,

even when troubles multiply around me?

God’s glory is all around me!

His wrap-around presence is all I need,

for the Lord is my Savior, my hero, and my life-giving strength. (TPT)

Shabbat Shalom my friends!
